Duke of York Restaurant

Project:

To demolish the existing Café and replace it with an award winning Restaurant project designed by Nex Architects.  The Restauarant which will extend over ground floor and basement will have three 9m curved glass windows at ground floor which will retract into the ground to open the Restaurant up to the outside for diners.


Above is a timelapse video showing the progression of the project over 18 months, from how it looked before work began up until April 2019 just before operator handover.


Challenges

    Building in the middle of a public square
    Nature of the building -not a straight line to be seen
    Diversion of extension existing services that ran across the site
